One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things. – Henry Miller
We recently packed the car and headed north, making stops in Montpelier, Stowe and Waterbury, Vermont. My husband ran the Mad Marathon through the country roads, covered bridges, and mountains of Waitsfield, Vermont and the Mad River Valley. What an impressive group of people, gathered from all over the country for a mid-summer, quite hilly marathon. My daughter and I cheered, handed out water to the runners, and made multiple stops to the local bakery. We had a great trip.
Along the way, we wandered through the Montpelier Farmer’s Market, had some amazing Sea Salt Caramels from Cocoa Bean, found some beautiful bracelets in a great bead shop, browsed the local used book store, made an obligatory stop at the Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream factory in Waterbury, took a swim at the Trapp Family Lodge and loaded up on carbs with some delicious pizza and pasta at PieCasso in Stowe, Vermont.
It was nice to see someplace new, to take in the sights, breathe the mountain air, and take lots of photographs along the way. Here are a few of my favorites.
